Strength Matching
When the connecting pipe is API 5L X56 (yield 56 ksi), an A105 flange (yield 36 ksi) would become the pressure‑limiting component. F56 brings the flange’s yield strength into alignment with the pipe.
Impact Toughness
A694 forgings are typically impact tested (Charpy V‑notch) to ensure ductile behavior at low temperatures, often required for arctic, subsea, or winterized installations. A105 is not automatically impact tested.
Sour Service Compatibility
